I was born in Toronto, Canada during March of 1987. Growing up, I developed a fondness for adventure and fantasy. Everything from The Knights of the Round Table to 1001 Arabian Nights. Beyond literature I have sought out Theatre, Opera, Dance, Film, Television, and Esoteric Mysticism to fuel inspiration throughout my life. I learned to channel that fascination through drawing and painting during college and taking workshops in hopes of becoming a 3D Animator/Modeler.
I found in my heart a love for dip pens, India Ink and watercolour, for low-saturation imagery and character work. There is a kind of honesty for me putting something to paper by hand, it carries a more expressive, less rehearsed imprint from the hand to the medium. I hope to transit my thoughts and dreams through the canvas and wash viewers with a sense of wonder, mystery and adventure, seeking to bring them back and discover some new element redefining their cursory experiences with my works. Ever a terrible student, I decided that, with no professor, I would start working on projects designed to refine my skills and to focus on making my art meaningful.
Art, in my opinion, serves some purpose outside itself, it must carry a message from the artist to some spectra of people, your audience. An artist is a person or people making something with the intention to reach somebody with that thing, a drawing, painting, song, sculpture, letter, etc. You become an artist while you are doing that and while your audience, however many or few, engages with it. The artist’s quality is determined by their audience, if the people you aim for accurately behold the character and intention of your work, you are a good artist.
Beauty is in the beholder’s eye, not the voyeur.
